It appeared that both teams did not want to score towards the end of the extra time period, wanting to chance their luck with penalties.
The Argentinian players in the penalty shoot out must have had a rush of blood to the head when they thought, firstly a kick along the ground would get in, and secondly, a kick that travels at the height of the goalkeepers waist would get past the goalkeeper.

well the match was completely robbed from argentina. the referee was like paid to make germany win. totally wrong decisions. hate that referee and and hate the germans for winning by cheating. i really am proud of the way the argentinian players played. after all the one sided play they managed to keep the game tied till the last minute of the game. they lost it in the shoot out. that was real sad.

ya the 90 mins match was spectacular..but at the end lady luck was the goal scorer for germany

I thought it was the luckiest win so far, except maybe Italy's win over Australia. "El Pato" Abbondanzieri is a PK specialist. Klose injures him, doesn't get called or carded for it. We tie and go to PKs. The new goalkeeper has no World Cup experience and he SUCKS at PKs, but all of a sudden it was HIS performance that determined everything.

Argentina was the better team and Germany only won by luck and the ref was a disaster....

Please...don't get me started on how Argentina was robbed by a bias ref. I hope the ref that is at the Germany and Italy game is impartial. Go Italy GO!!!!!!

Arg strong def....Sit too back for Ger to Score...
Ger lacks quality play when they concede goals.
They just whack.
Ger Weak def Weak Attack.Good Tactics
Arg too confident of Penalty kicks. They shoot even without looking or adjusting the ball.
