it's actually only recently do hollywood films start to really emphasize the little-girl-with-black-hair thing. i think they got the idea from asian films. if you're gonna watch asian horror films (especially japanese movies), you're going to almost always see that. when the ring broke out and became extremely popular, hollywood took advantage of the opportunity and tried to blend in. after all, it's creepier right? doesn't that make your hair rise? :)

One movie you need to watch is The Bad Seed. It's a classic from the 50's and the little evil girl actually had blond hair. An excellent movie too.

Because blonde girls are only associated with being ditzy and maybe a little bit sexual, but definately not scary...not in the horror movie senes anyway. U gotta admit, the black hair thing is pretty freaky.

I guess a lot of times in the movies, blonde hair also implies innocence. Kinda like in the artistic depiction of angels - usually their hair is blonde.
However, here are two horror/thriller movies with blonde little girls:
- The Bad Seed
- Poltergeist

Dark haired victims put more dark color in the overall area of the screen. Scarey movies generally use dark sets and props and lighter hair would ruin the effect.

it is creepier. if you saw a blonde haired girl in your hallway would you be as scared than if you saw a black haired girl.
