Here's my question: Does the title of the national anthem change depending on if there is a king or a queen? The national anthem is now "God Save the Queen", but when Prince Charles becomes king, will it change to "God Save the King"?

Also, the song sounds like "Let Freedom Ring", which (I think) is an American song. When and how did that change?

Although it's the national anthem of United Kindom, and several members of the Commonwealth, no official law has ever made it so. Its tune was also used for "America", better known as "My Country, 'Tis of Thee", which has the line "let freedom ring".

A lot of old melodies are recycled; it's said the tune for "The Star-Spangled Banner" was an old drinking song.

That is correct, the lyrics change depending on whether there is a king or a queen. It has been the British national anthem since 1745.

i'm Irish and proud and that i admit it grew to become right into a foul difficulty that got here approximately in 1920. i've got lived in England, Australia, u.s. and now back in eire so I easily have an thought of what Irish human beings think of. I became very patriotic when I left eire yet i think that it is purely yet another reason for human beings to get on their severe horse and moan and *****. i might say there are some households strolling around in Northern eire who bump into the killer of one of their family. do we no longer study from them and supply up the complaining. sure it grew to become right into a foul difficulty that got here approximately yet i ask your self whether those people who died in 1920 have been alive in the present day might they be so outspoken or might they want some peace in this u . s . a .? If some thing happens on saturday which in all probability might desire to it's going to be the moaners fault for escalating the problem. And sure sunflower is right. The English national anthem grew to become into performed till now in Croke park on the particular Olympics in 2003. So if those form of human beings are so adamant that it won't be in Croke Park, the place have been they then??

Also, depending on the monarch terms like "Queen's English" change.
Queens English is the correct grammatical way to talk, if you didn't know.

Hopefully the crown will be passed to William and not Charles though.
