You need to tell the teacher in advance what happened. It was very wrong of you to copy from your classmate. He should not have given you his notes in the first place but he was trying to be nice to you. You owe him an apology. Never do that again.

It sounds like your friend does not have an assignment to render to the teacher.
If you copied his/hers, word for word, I can assure you that your teacher will spot it. Don't underestimate your teacher. Your past written intrepretations of a subject and your inflections and/or even your past punctuation will be obvious.
Be prepared for an F. It won't be the end of the world and you "will" learn from it. Unfortnutely, your friend may also receive an F, even if he/she has the originals to turn in. We cannot be dishonest without having no affect on others. I wish you well. I'm very old. not a teacher in the schooling sense. Just the school of hard knocks.

Does the teacher not allow or encourage studying together? Are they a loner? You could always tell the truth, you used the same notes to get the answers... I am willing to bet, that if there are other students who heard the lecture, I bet they have the same answers too?? That is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

This question is way to vague for me!

If you copied your friends answers the teacher will know one way or the other when she grades the papers. If your handing in your friend's work and claiming it as yours, your friend might tell her since he won't have an assignment to turn in.

just turn it in for him, without saying anything to your teacher.
