Before I moved to Los Angeles, seeing someone lying on the sidewalk was not something you would see ever. I would definitley have stoped to help. Here in Hollywood and downtown LA, it is an everyday ocourance, always some drunk and/or crackhead, you just step over them and go about your day.

There are many homeless around LA, and they are usually sleeping during most of the day and I would be disturbing them. If you are observant you can tell if there is a problem, no sign of breath, blood excetera. If the person does not look the part and is not bleeding, I will stop and help. If they are homeles and/or bleeding I will call 911 right away and have the parametics take care of it, I do not carry gloves on me and if they are injured it is natural for anyone to lash out when injured..natural protective instinct...ever wonder why parametics travel in twos.

stop and see whats wrong ,
be aware of dangers , traffic, live cable , drunk etc
check ,;
Airway ( clear) check heart rate ,
, start CPR if necessary
bleeding stop major bleeding ,
bone injuries immobilise # if appropriate
,
put in recovery position
, get the emergency services Ambulance as quickly as poss .(based on the above observations )
There is much you can do ; take a course in first aid , you may be able to save a life .

I have stopped to see if someone needed help once, but he was in his back yard on the ground.. I yelled at him across the fence to see if he was ok, his lil dogs where laying next to him like he was dead... but after a few yells he woke up and said he was ok... that he just falls out sometime and sleeps where ever he happens to be...

I would stop! Especially if the person did not look like a bum just sleeping there. I would try to get someone's attention and call 911.

Of course I would. There are too many people in this country who do not realize that the world does not evolve around them.
If you are one of the unfortunate people who would walk on by then you should clearly think of your own parents and selves to hope we do it for you as well.

I would stop to see what's wrong...if there were people around...but if I was alone I think I'd call for a help and be more careful...

Will it depends.... if I happen to be NYC then I'll walk by lol but if in bergen county then i'll stop. But I'm joking! I would help anyone. especially the poor or homeless cause Im apprehensive of people in suits.

i would stop and find out what was wrong with the person and i would help him untill help arrives giving him comfort measures if every one looked after each other think what a beautiful world this would be

I would stop, but pray first that they don't have a bomb strapped to them. But I guess that won't happen until Bush is out of office and The Democrats get in.
