He had this same thing on his head yesterday morning, and I cleaned it off. It is white and looks like some one has sprinkled baby powder on him and tried to wipe it off but couldn't get it all. now it is on his head and neck a little. I change his water every other day, but could it still be that? Any body know!

It sounds as though your snake has poop or urine on its head. It is probably fine.

Ball pythons commonly go off feed for long periods of time. If your cage temps are good and the snake is not losing weight , I wouldn't worry yet . Do not offer food daily and do not leave the food in the cage for too long. Place food item in cage for no more than 15 minutes. If it doesn't eat, remove and try again in 4-5 days. This will keep the snake from becoming overstressed which will just keep it from eating.
Do NOT try hot dogs. More than likely your snake will not eat them on its own. Hot dogs are commonly used for force feeding a non-feeding snake to get it eating and can cause damage if not done correctly.
If your snake starts losing weight or is a small baby ball, call the vet for assistance. It may need an appetite stimulant.

Good Luck!

It definitely sounds like your snake has skin mites. To get rid of them, put enough warm water in a container with a few drops of liquid dish soap, to allow the snake to almost submerge itself, and let him swim around in this until the water gets cool. Repeat this process for about an hour. Also, empty the snakes enclosure of everything, discard the bedding, wash the tank and rocks, hide box etc. with a water and mild bleach solution, let dry, replace the bedding and the normal contents back into the tank and lastly, put your snake back in the tank. Keep a close eye on your snake afterwards, the mites, if they return, will look like white grains of pepper. If they come back, you have to repeat this process until they are gone for good.

Your snake has mites the are almost microscopic parasites. You can hardly ever see them but you can tell if if your snake has them by there poop small white specks. It can effect metabolism and even be fatal. Go to your vet and get medication for the snake. Move him to another cage for a while and clean his current cage. Esspetaly his sticks. Then put fly paper in his cage After a week or so remove the fly paper and put the snake back in. This should be treated emediatly before it gets worse.

hot dog, absolutely stupid. my ball went 3 months without eating. no problem. once they acquire body mass(fat) they sometime go 6 months without food. the important thing to do is offer it every 2 or 3 days until she consumes it. live food instills natural instincts. as for the white stuff, fungus maybe, clean her head off with peroxide on cotton balls then apply an antibiotic you can get at any drug store such as neosporin or mercurichrome., apply with a q-tip only to the area. if this doesn't work consult your local university pet clinic or one that specializes in exotics.
