It Is Time Each One of Us 'Need' to Act........

I knew that I must use 'needs' in the above sentence, but they used 'need'. I don't know why they used 'need' instead of 'needs'

The sentence is cited from following site.

The subject of the verb "need" is "each" -- not "us." The correct word is "needs" because that is the correct form of the verb for a singular subject. Many people make the mistake of having the verb agree with the noun or pronoun closest to it -- in this case, "us." But "us" is the object of the preposition "of" and is not the subject of the verb. But to many untrained ears, it sounds better to have the verb agree with "us."

I'm no english major, but here goes.

I think the subject of that part of the sentence is 'we' like 'We each need'

I think 'each one' refers to two then the plural for the verb would be need, not needs.

Although we all tend to say the plural "needs", proper english is the singular form "need".
