My husband is on hemodialysis 3 times a week and we would like to find a vacation place somewhere in a warm climate where he can get good dialysis treatments without going far for the treatment.

The best source of information is your own dialysis clinic. At my clinic we have lots of patients going on vacation this summer, from Alaska, to Hawaii, and everywhere in between. Earlier this year we even had a patient go to Belguim! Tell your facility manager where you're planning on going and they will let you know what facilities are available, and they will help with the necessary preperation. Some of the visiting facilities require your history and physical, recent lab results, a recent chest x-ray, etc. All first-world countries and even some 3rd world countries have excellent dialysis services.

I think that you might check with AAA, American Express Travel, or even talk to the AARP, even if you do not qualify by age. These companies are very knowledgable when it comes to travel and can probably help you make the connections to establish appointments for the treatments before you make a trip.

You may want a moderate climate, rather than quite warm because any extreme heat might put your husband at risk for a crisis. And make sure that he stays well hydrated no matter where you go.

I think a good place to start would be your doctors office. Ask them they might be able to give you information as where to go in case of an emergency or in your husbands case where he can get his treatments. If they don't know maybe you can talk to a travel agent they might also be able to help you, if not you last resort might be to call the hotel where you plan on vacationing at and they might be able to help you out or lead you to the right direction. Good luck and enjoy your vacation.
