I keep seing it on T.V. before, and I've seen it happen. I want to know why. Thanks for your help!

Because they are nothing more than like a big unprotected mucus membrane. I immagine if you packed salt into your nose it may be a very unpleasant exprerience as well.

Snails have a lot of water in their bodies. When you put salt on them, the water drains out (this phenomenon is called osmosis, that water goes from a higher conc to lower conc.. The body has less salt, the outer surface is concentrated, so water drains out.). As the water drains out, the snail 'explodes'.

not sure but I know that seagulls will explode if you give them a certain thing to eat,which I will not tell !

anything with high soduim, really high, will make a seagull blow up like a nuke.
