It's shocking to me that people are saying tuna is okay when there are forever warnings about the unhealthy levels of mercury in it. I even saw a new study a month ago that said types of canned tuna they used to think were safe are actually just as bad as the rest.

If your wife wants to have fish, salmon is supposed to be one of the safest alternatives out there.

Good luck.

Up until a few weeks ago, I had heard that only 4-8 oz per week was safe. Now (As of earlier in June) the FDA (or one of the other Food and Health offices) is saying that pregnant women shouldn't eat ANY tuna.... Too bad, another thing to add on the list of things we can't pack for lunch!

Fish is not safe for pregnant women, especially fish with high amounts of mercury... They say no more than 12oz of fish a week for pregnant women. I'm also pregnant, I've decided to stay completely away from fish until the baby is born. I see there's a lot of conflicting answers regarding your question. To be sure, which I know already..BUT for your unborn child's sake..consult with your wife's OB-GYN.

YES tuna does have mercury in it..That's why they say no more than 12oz a week of fish for pregnant women.

Yes, tuna is actually good for the baby and your wife. Raw seafood (sushi) is what pregnant women are warned to stay away from. Good luck with the baby!
