I think it's hard to say this early how good the films will be - I LOVE the books but how they translate to the screen... I guess it depends what your expectations are. I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter books too and while the films are okay, they just don't compare to the books (I still watch them though!), whereas the LOTR films did a brilliant job of bringing the story to life. Unfortunately it's often the case that films don't live up to the books they're based on. I think a lot hangs with the casting of the main characters -especailly Lyra and Will - I hear that Lyra has now been cast. I do think they could do a fantastic job - the filmmakers have wonderful material to work with, and I for one can't wait to see what they make of it.

I think the movies will be fantastic, because Philip Pullman is playing such a big part in the process, even more than JK Rowling did. I think he'll make sure that the films accurately capture his story.

I loved the books too. I just reread the first two, but unfortunately can't find my copy of The Amber Spyglass. They're really fantastic though, and have so many interesting ideas bouncing around in them.

I loved the books, and am looking forward to the films, however I am afraid they will bow to pressure from the Catholic church and the religious right and tone down the church in Lyra's world - even though they are books involving parallel dimensions, and where the church is no more powerful/abusive in Lyra's world in the present day than it was in reality in the middle ages, and Lyra's mother is experimenting more than the church would probably like, they still seem to be kicking up a fuss because anything negative about Christianity is offensive to them even if it is set in a fictional alternate dimension.
I think they will do a good job in bringing the alternate worlds to life, but you can't always predict whether a film adaptation will be any good - e.g. Narnia and Da Vinci Code were panned by the critics and I still haven't seen them.

i imagine darkish skin is brilliant! i'm no longer merely keeping that. i'm very diminished, and do not intend on going to an risky tanning revenues area each and every time quickly. That pronounced, i respect darker skin. i imagine we are born with what we are born with. I had commented on a youtube video of Tyra and a type who became keeping how she under no circumstances felt noticeably because she became darkish. I talked about in my remark that being white, even besides the undeniable fact that idealized by utilizing society by the years, isn't something to be valued anymore. Or, a minimum of, it should not be valued anymore. skin colour won't be able to outline someone. I talked about the way it sucks that we get moles, solar burns (brilliant pink tomato skin( that peels), and turn pink from exercising. i imagine there are eye-catching women persons in each and every ethnic team, and as i had pronounced in protecting with Tyra's video, "the victorian era is over, so why are we nonetheless captivated with diminished skin." My element is that you're suitable merely the way you're. that is like the blonde vs. brunette debate. There are blondes with prettier faces/ brunettes/ pink heads/ black hair...etc. finally, only a extra remark...my sister's brilliant buddy has brilliant brown skin, and sounds like a type. i imagine it really is a shame that there are such a great number of persons who decide in protecting with skin colour even as that is any such trivial topic.

they're making a film? yea! I'm actually just reading the second book now, that'll be cool. The film probably won't be as good as the book though, they never are.
