You can grow a plant using the methods above.
I have done it a few times.
Never get avacados but a nice green plant that eventually dies if you place it outside.

Put a toothpick in each side and suspend the wide end in water in a glass

stick toothpicks in it and fill up a glass of water, stick it on top, to get it to root
