thats a tough one. hmm...id say eruption by eddie van halen. cuz it helped create a new technique that almost every rock guitarist has dabble into at one point of another. but there are so many great ones. i like One from Metallica. solo from Iron Man. i dont think there really is a best. because there are so many different elements that each guitarist brings to music. okay look at zakk wylde(he can play really complex and shreddy solos) while eric clapton usually plays more blues-based rock and doesnt do shreddy solos. who can say that one solo is better than the other from 2 very respectible guitarists? i think a great solo is based off of structure. not really if its fast or slow. its what you say with the solo.listen to it

Anything Alex Lifeson plays. Rush did a great version of Crossroads. Tom Sawyer, Spirit of the Radio, Closer to The Heart, Limelight, and any other Rush song has great guitar in it.
