Okay, unconventional places: in the sheets, under the mattress, between the mattress and bed frame, maybe under something on the table (alarm clock? lamp?), across the room if you may have flailed your arm while asleep and knocked it somewhere. Hell, it could be anywhere (and this assumes you actually put it there and weren't just so tired that you just thought you did).
Do you have a pet that could get into the room?

Check all sides and underneath.
Are there any drawers in the table? might have fallen in one.
Caught in the bed linen?
If none of the above, try X-raying the cat/dog/kids
