blog by defintion is a "web log"=blog for short. you can use it for many things like a journal type thing for people to read, to keep track of other stuff or to find common interests with people. just be aware that unless if you choose it as an option in some blogs it's all on the web for everyone to see. common blog sites are:
www.xanga.com
www.blogger.com
www.myspace.com -- semi-blog but more of a profile
www.freewebs.com -- you can make a free website but also had a blog to it/ or just use it as a blog
many also have age limits and while you could just lie it's usually good to keep to them.

A blog is a web log, an on-line diary of sorts. It's an interesting blog world out there. You can post pictures, links, etc, it's pretty fun. Good luck!
