What would be better for a warm humid climate - central Florida - a central air system or a heat pump - SEER?

One advantage to a central air system is you only see the vents. The unit is hidden away in a ceiling or closet. It also distributes the air better. Yesterday i was having a conversation with a Air balancer he told me the best thing was a heat pump on top of a gas furnance. He has a heat pump outside instead of a air conditioner the heat pump can cool and heat but it is a more efficient air condiner and the new state mandates have increased the minimum seer to 13 i think.It used to be a 10 seer now you can not get the low efficeiny not get them any more.Itdoes noit get very cold in florida and as long as the bosters dont kick in on the heat pump i think the pump may be better for your climate.You dont need the gas furnance.It gets cold in ohio

If you need heat and you live in Florida, then by far the most energy efficient way to heat is with one of the new heat pumps. Also for heating and cooling , the most energy efficient units are the water source "geothermal" heat pumps.
