A lot of them, yes.... but there are a lot of people, still, who don't know how to do effective searches. For those of us who've been using the web for more than 10 years, it's sort of second nature... but there are more and more people starting to use the internet every day, and they may not even know what Google is. And then there are people like me who actually enjoy looking things up. I've learned a lot trying to answer other people's questions (along with the many things I've learned based on my own inquisitiveness). I believe in the idea of the lifelong learner. (And I am one.)

I think so... unless they're opinion quesitons.
Some of the questions in the more subjective categories are interesting, becuase you have a VERY diverse group of strangers giving their opinions and viewpoints.
I'm sure you could get "better" advice from mental health forums, doctors, or community.... but I also think that there's alot to be said for the input from total strangers from differing cultures.
Sometimes, even with the more "factual" type questions, it can be VERY hard to wade thru all the search engine results. This can be especially true with pet issues and probably other types where "facts" exist but other peoples' previous experience might do just as well.

Yes, and that's why I haven't asked many questions. Some people said it might be fun to get different answers from people, but why would anyone want different (wrong) answers when they can just find the correct one themselves by doing a quick search?

Yes! I've often wondered about that!
When I'm asking, it's usually an opinion/discussion thing, cause if I want a reliable answer about a simple fact or information thing, I'd be much better off searching it on the internet myself.

Maybe, but then what would we have to do? I think it's mostly for fun here, and women love to give their opinion...if you notice most of the questions asked by women are opinion questions, not web search examples. Best wishes

Some questions are asking for advice on things like dating, relationships and marital advice etc
These and other similar questions want to be answered by real people who have either went through a similar experience or have the wisdom to give good advice..

True. When you come across things like that, just lead them to this website listed below. It works better as a hidden link for obvious reasons, but hey. As a helpdesk agent, I refer people all the time and never had any complaints ;o)

Yes, but wouldn't you miss the interaction with your fellow Yahoo! Answers members? Also, some of these answers are much more entertaining than what you would find on the web!
