I think that the ACLU has gotten away with ripping the Constitution apart for far too long.

Right. Let's just get this over with. I'm tired of arguing the point.

Amend the Constitution. Make Christianity the national religion. Make displays of Christian symbolism legal and mandatory in every government office.

We've already thrown away just about every other principle on which this country was founded. Might as well get rid of this one too. Those who don't happen to be part of the national religion, and would prefer not to be constantly reminded they are in the minority will just have to get over being devalued and disregarded. If we don't like being in the religious minority, we should just follow the example set by the Founders of this country and leave. Find someplace to go and worship without being told that we're wrong for not being Christian.

Congress has already found a way around the Establishment Clause (see link below). It's only a matter of time now. So, let's stop fighting it. Make this country the Christian States of America, and the rest of us will just have to convert or leave.

Happy?

I think it's a good thing! If they want to hang a picture of Jesus in the school hallway then they need to hang on of Allah, Jehovah, Yaweh, Vishnu, Buddah, you get the idea right?? Yes, Jesus was an historical figure. But He was a controversial historical figure. His picture is offensive to many people! You wouldn't hang a picture of Stalin or Hitler in the school hallways would you?? THEY were historical figures too! Acutally, Hitler changed the world in so many ways that make our lives today what they are. For example, the Nazis were the first to start monkeying with space travel! (I"m not pro-nazis or anything, but I DO know my history!)

A long time ago many people gave their lives to ensure the seperation of church and state.

And, to the people out there who agrue that you have to swear on a Bible in court, you are wrong. Check your facts, my friends. You may swear on a Bible or you may Affirm to tell the truth. You are not penalized for not swearing on a Bible. And you can thank the ACLU for the right to NOT swear on a Bible!

Our Constitution was only intended to forbid the establishment of a state-mandated religion. References to religious ideas and principles were never intended to be excluded from daily life. The Founding Fathers incorporated the Judeo-Christian ethic into the fabric of American life. "In God We Trust" is written on our currency. How much plainer did they have to make their intentions?

Hanging a picture of Jesus is not going to force anyone to convert to Christianity.

How ironic that the solution to this problem is to have someone slap the bejesus out of the ACLU.

Well----It wouldn't be a problem if the also had pictures of Budha, Mohammed, Siva, and all of the other Gods from all religions. Jesus by himself, unless it is a Christian College is offensive to all of the other people of different religious beliefs that attend that college. Sorry I know you want people to rant with you but Colleges that are not Christian are run by funds from many different people and in the case of state colleges by the taxpayers. And why is this necessary? Just to aggravate people or to hit the over the head with your beliefs? Jesus said " Go into your closets and pray", and He threw the Pharisees out!!! In case you don't know those were the money people and those who worshiped the loudest. All the Christian right is doing by this is saying look at me I'm better than you and maybe Jesus will throw all of you out of His Heaven.

I am far from a religious person. However, if there were more mingling of Church and State, perhaps this country would be in much better shape than it is today. Our whole society is drowning in "anything goes" because of the Constitution. We are not free. You can't leave your children alone for fear of molestation, you can't walk down the street at night for fear of being raped or killed, etc. The problem is, none of these predators are punished in the extreme sense of the word. Drug dealers get more time than murderers or rapists. Maybe a little more GOD would help. Don't you think???????

Good for them. When are people going to stop trying to shove their beliefs down the throats of others??

I happen to be christian...but I dont feel the need to force others to follow in my foot steps. GET OVER IT!!!

Honestly would you be ok with a portrait of ganesha hanging in a school?

I think the ACLU needs to butt out - they "decide" what the rest of Americans "want, say, and need" in their lives and through their lawsuits and protests - it is THEM shaping our lives, environment, thinking, etc --- not the "government, society" or whom else they "blame"!
