you should really be happy! I started to have my period with the age of 11.....and I was very uncomfortable with it at that age

with 16 you may be mentally ready fo it and you can understand it better. Maybe it won't even hurt that much because you will be sexually active soon or you are yet

Accept your body for whom you are. There is no magical age when a women begins her menstural cycle. If you are really active in sports that may delay it too. Trust me, don't feel you have to have it by a certain age - remember you'll be dealing with it for a very looooooooooong time.

However, if you are really concerned there is something physically or medically wrong - speak with your mother and ask if you can see your doctor for advice.

Good Luck.

I wouldnt worry about it, if anything be happy. A menstral cycle is no joyful experience. Maybe you are stressing over it too much and holding it back . Just live life and let it flow when it wants. Now just because you have not had a period does not mean you can not get pregnet, so please use protection if you have sex.

16 is borderline late for the onset of menstruation. You should see your gynecologist.
There are other reasons why periods are delayed and he/she can tell you whether you fall into any of those categories (i.e. low body fat of 15-17%, obesity, excessive prolonged exercise, hormone supplements).

Being underweight may be the cause. Mature women that lose too much weight can stop having their period.

Definitely see a doctor and discuss it.

Good Luck
