I don't know whats up with them either. It seems every little thing grants them a card. Even if it's clearly not.

Yes, that is true. I have been watching the FIFA World Cups 2006 also. The refferees were isuing the yellow/red cards to one team alot because they liked the other team better. It isn't fair but the refferees still do that.

It's a real problem this time around. Franz Beckenbauer has been complaining about it too, thanks to Fifa's new, stricter rules on tackling and stuff, red and yellow cards r just everywhere this world cup. Seriously, in what kind of game should there be three red cards? It can seriously mess a team up and change the entire game!

If the referee, thinks the player try to hurt another player in purpose,he gives a yellow card as a warning ,if the same player try to hurt another player again, and the referee thinks it was in purpose the referee gives the player a red card, and that player is out for the rest of the game.

Could I please ask you to stop watching the matches.

No ones career has been affected by yellow and red cards - this is football not brain surgery. (Can you read this?)
