Randomly, never. It is one thing to have empathy , sympathy, compassion, understanding, when viewing another person's life. However, not for one moment, or one second, would I want to feel the pain of say an abused person or child.
Now picking the persons life , where I would want to feel their joy or pain for a day maybe, that's a whole different ball game.
Another random thought on my part. Old Sci -Fi show, Quantum Leap. Dealt with that random exchange of people's lives, in of course simple to digest, happy outcome. The star being a scientist from the future , having help from a computer and his pal Al was able to change lives with people, and of course affect the negative outcome of their lives.

Great guestion!
Assuming that there was no way to switch back, the way one would answer ths question would be very telling as to their status and the "luck" of their life.
For instance, I was born in a free country. I was given a free education. I have the freedom to my own beliefs. Food is plentiful. I can have as many children as I wish. I don't have people bombing my neighborhood. My family owns two cars. I have had good health care my entire life.
There are VERY VERY few people in the WORLD who can say that. On top of that, I have a highschool and college education, I own my own business, I have a great marraige and two healthy children. Is my life perfect? No Way. Is my body perfect? Not even close. Do I live in a mansion? Ha! Am I famous? Right.
I don't have much by the social bologne standards of the US media but I KNOW how lucky I am and what a great life I have. If I were to switch places with anyone in the world AT RANDOM I would be a fool because the odds are with me I would switch to a much more difficult life.
Now, IF you could switch back, I agree with an answer above, I think it should be a required course in all highschool classes. Or maybe for everyone. We need some perspective here.

There is no way I would even consider that. I am not saying that I have the best life but I know I don't have the worst. If I switched with someone at random, I may end up in a worst life.

That would depend on if I could get back to my life when I was done experiencing someone else's for a while. I like my life a lot and would not want to take the chance of loosing my own identity permanently, but it would be very interresting to see the world through someone else's eyes.

Talk about walking a mile in someone else's shoes. I think it should be a required course in high school. just think of the perspective/wisdom that could be attained by really having to walk a mile in someone Else's shoes. I think people would appreciate what they have more. why stop at one person? how about trading with say 10 people to get a wide range of experiences.
as long as it was temporary.......

No women are not the in straight forward words ones that try this. I usually locate my self admiring somebody else and feeling very green with envy of them. that is low self-worth yet I cant be certain. yet each individual feels it finally. until eventually your genuinely a variety of great desirable preppy varieties, or if you're pleased with your self. yet no longer many each individual is pleased with the way they offer the impact of being. With human beings being made prettier and prettier how can an standard male experience smooth in his personal skin. i believe like I even ought to stay as a lot as each of the desirable human beings. yet I cant and that i'll purely ought to get use to that. i am going to experience free being me.

Yes! This would be a great thing, if it were real. It would teach perspective, virtue, respect, passion, etc. This single thing could be more important to me than any other learning experience.
