That happened to me this morning. It happens about twice a year or so. And the hell of it is, I have no idea WHY I was laughing!

actually, yes I have...recently!! I was dreaming that I was sitting on the set of Seinfeld in Jerry's living room, talking with Jerry and George, when all of a sudden George finds a pair of HUGE women's thong underwear in the sofa! Jerry grabbed hold of them and was commenting on how big they were, and put them on over his clothes!! Evidently I was completely amused with this as I awoke in full belly laughs!!!!
I think the dream just means I'm watching too much Seinfeld! LOL!

During some of the better parts of my life, I have had that happen on a few occasions I can recall. I don't remember the dream-source of the laughter either, but it's a really good way to start the day!

It must me something you were dreaming about, as everyone here is saying. I have woken up doing the following: Laughing, crying, being terrified. Only once every 4 years or so, but you remember it.
Some people believe you can communicate with people who have crossed over (passed away), by talking to them in your sleep. It's because your mind is most open when you are sleeping.

It means you're an alien from outer space disguised as a human. You laugh because your original memories poke through and you realise how terribly, terribly funny are humans. Then you wake up.

Yes... When I'm in kensho (temporary Enlightenment), I often wake up laughing. It is the joy of being and the recognition of the absurdity of normal human condition.

Yes. My husband swore I was laughing at him in my dream and I may have been...I don't remember the dream, but I do remember waking up laughing.

I don't know about laughing, but I was spending the night at a friend's house back in high school and woke up to her saying "Shut up!... Shut UP!.... SHUT UP!!!" and I finally snapped awake and was like "Are you talking to me?" and she said "Yes! YOU'RE HUMMING!!!" That explained the droning noise in my dream :)
