A friends pc has both 2000 and 98 on it. An error on trying to go into 2000 says ntoskrnl is corrupt or missing. He does not have an emergency disc. I have expanded the required file from the 2000 cd but cannot work out how to put it into \system32\. All I seem to be able to access is the winsows folder for 98.

u can not access too windows 2000 directries from windows 98
because 98 file system in Fat or FAT32
and 2000 is ntfs
so the best way is using windows 2000 cd too boot and try recovery console , or make a startup disk and try with that
