get the non toxic to pet ant killer, it comes in little pebble looking things, put all around the outside of your house, they have to leave for water and they will pick up the pebbles and take it to the queen, once she is gone the others will disperse as well,, (hopefully) you have to keep doin it, depending on how many ants you have :)
you may want to get rid of the ones closest to your house, but smaller ants are actually beneficial to flowers and other things.
so you dont want to wipe them all out

We have a lot of small ants. I've used the pellets and different bug sprays. Make sure you don't leave yard waste around - like piles of leaves. They love to set up housekeeping in piles of leaves. One thing I've done that is cruel, is pour boiling water on the ant hills. The ants at my house love Yucca plants. I'm in the process of getting rid of those plants. Call an exterminator and concentrate on the pests around your house. I t won't be long and you'll be ant free. Good luck.
