It could possibly need a tune -up. Sometimes the ignition components don't function when they get hot. Check this out and it may solve your problem.

Make sure you are using the correct gas/oil mix, you may be running your machine too hot. Do NOT use engine oil to mix with the gas.
You should be using something like 50:1 mixing oil in most cases. Use either Stihl mixing oil or an equivalent, like Tanaka.

The gas/oil mixture is CRITICAL.

When the motor gets hot, the gas in the gas tank and carbeurator can actually 'boil' and you get a vapour lock (like an air bubble) which prevents gas from getting to the motor. When the motor cools off, the gas flows again.

Also you might check to make sure your gas tank lid is venting properly, and check the spark arrester screen, make sure it's not plugged up while you're checking things over.

I would offer a couple of ideas. First of all, I guess it is a 2 cycle engine. It could be an improper mix of the gas/oil . It could be running too lean. A 2 cycle engine needs to run just a bit rich for cooling and lubrication. It could be the ignition system breaking down from the heat, but not likely. It could be the spark plug which is easy to fix. It could be a clogged exhaust system. It could be a clogged fuel system. It is probably worth taking to your local repair shop for a look, unless of course you are a handyman.

Those little engines get hot, and a cool-down is just what the doctor ordered. You're probably over-using a home unit, what you want if you've got a big job is the professional ones, and those are a little heavier, and stand up better to continuous use.

your carb is wearing out! they are made of aluminum and just the air and fuel with the dust wears them down,, you now have too much air flowing in when they get hot,,, sometimes you can use the choke to make it run,, but that is just a sign of its wearing
