He's not being held up as an expert, he is being held up as a spokesperson. This move is more than likely political, and clearly working because you are talking about it.

The same can be said about Leonardo Di Caprio who has a documentry out as well... or any of the Hollywood types who drive a Prius...it's a good way to get a point out...because like it or not people are listening ( it obviously caught your attention)

It's called "research".
You don't have to be smart to gather information from smart people.
Look at Bill Gates. He is intelligent, however, most of his success was obtained from smarter people that work for him.

Al is not an expert, he is promoting experts opinions.
I don't like Al, but he is correct about global warming.
Until Bush and Cheney can make money on it, they will sacrifice the universe by denying global warming.

Al Gore considers himself an expert on everything and is an expert on nothing. "I invented the internet." Remember that one. He is a career politician and not very good at that. He lost in his run for President.

He isn't. The problem is the US population for the most part is lazy. Any actor or actress with a camera in front of them can become an expert. People see them talking on tv so it must be true and they were great in home alone 32 so they must know what they are talking about. COME ON PEOPLE think for youselves. He has a camera and a soapbox and his face is known. Thats it.

He's not saying he's an expert. He's just using his bully pulpit to spread the word about global warming.

It's the same way as Michael Jordan is not an expert on shoes nor is Catherine Zeta Jones a cellular/telecomunications wizard.

Because every 6 months he re-invents himself into something he isn't. He has to do something to stay in the spotlight. He's like one of those Bozo the Clown punching bags that keeps popping up everytime he gets knocked down. Haven't you noticed that after losing the Presidency he went into seclusion? The next thing you know, he's grown a beard, wearing flannel shirts and brown corduroy pants from thrift stores. A true protege of Ralph Nader. And to think that just months before the election, he was prancing around on stage like a stallion in a designer suit...all clean-shaven...pretending to be sexually attracted to that bag he calls his wife. Cheers!

I don't believe he considers himself an expert, he is only trying to get people to listen and reason , start thinking in a better direction or at least try...he never said he invented the internet, he only helped in the transformtion from the federal government to the puplic

What is your proof that he is not an expert? Seems like you need to do more research about Big AL and then ask your question again.

He isn't an expert. he doesn't try to be an expert. What Al Gore is being is an activist.
