Usually Yes.
Your options depend on the computer - NOT the operating system. What is it? An HP? A Dell? A Compaq? Something else? If something else, don't say something else - say the make and model. If it's generic, then indicate the motherboard.
Most systems with onboard video have an AGP slot or PCI Express slot that can handle a high end video card and can have the onboard video disabled so you can use such a card. If you only have PCI slots, you can get a PCI video card, but PCI video cards DO NOT perform as well as onboard AGP graphics.

Usually you can install a graphics card on a PC that has one built onto the system board, doing so will improve performance due to the fact that your system won't be sharing ram to allocate to video.
DO you have an open AGP slot on the mainboard of your machine? If so, insert the graphics card you want to use, MAKE SURE you have disconnected the power cord before doing so. Once you install the card and ensure that it is seated properly, re-connect the power cord and turn your machine on. You will need to enter into the computers bios/cmos to disable your onboard video. In most cases you can press the delete key to enter the mainboard setup, however some if not most production line computers ( ie: Hewlett Packard, Dell, Compaq, ect...) you may need to use the F2 key or some other key. Check with your computer manufacturers user manual or web site for info. Also, VERY IMPORTANT, be very carefull while in the system setup bios/cmos, one wrong setting and you could leave yourself with a non-responsive computer.

All you have to do is to install your new video card and after that go to my computer properties and select the hardware tab and click the device manager and disable your old video card or you can remove it from the add and remove hardware in the control panel it's the better way..

Yes, you should be able to add your new hardware without any problems. Just go into your motherboard's bios and disable your buildin video card and connect your monitor's cable with your new video card which you have installed on your AGP or X16 slot. Then save and restart, your computer will know that it has only one video card on your AGP or X16 slot, and it should work without any trouble.
