I think so, yes. I am an archer (recurve, indoors outdoors target) and I went back to China for the entire summer to train under an Olympic coach. I had actually just started last summer, but they saw talent and potential in me. They said that if I had stayed at that training center/school, I would definately have been at China's nationals.
Bottom line is, if you work hard enough and you have enough talent, you should be able to get where you want to be. Word of warning:archery is not as easy as it looks. The recurve bows are at least 36 pounds of pull, and compounds are around 60 pounds. You'll need to work hard, every single day, and have access to a weight room and a training center. You'll have to learn proper technique (Kisik Lee's technique is the one most widely used) and get the proper equipment (bows are expensive -in the thousands, and arrows are an average of 50 dollars each. you'll also need a quiver, chest guard, wrist guard, string, stabilizers for the bow, and a place to fix your bow and arrows if needed.) There is so much involved in archery! Be careful, but have fun if you try it. Hope to see you at 2012 Olympics =P

Certainly Yes!! Provided that you have set your goal right and work hard at it. Yes..you have 6 years.
However, remember that sometimes competing with somebody physically is not really worth. If you work on your studies 6 years, then you can more thatn what an olympic player can achieve.. You may be able to give something worthwile to the entire world which can be more valuable than just trying to improve your muscles and compete against another human like in the jungle days. .. Just think, that you work hard for 6 years and someone like a bull comes and takeaway the medal from you... then tell me what else have you achieved?
Here is a choice among what you can do and achieve. Select the thing which will be beneficial to everyone other than yourself, which will give you more satisfaction at the end of the day.
Make good decisions..Make good chioces
Goodluck

maybe if you had a natural talent and practised a lot, joined the right archery club and had the determination. Look at that girl in the winter Olympics who had only been doing the sport for a couple of years and she got to the Olympics and won a medal i think??

It takes approxiamately 10 years for an archer to become lethal. Pracitse several times each day morning, noon and night. The best archers usually started when they were 7 or 8 yo by the time they were in their teens thye could plant an arrow into a keyhole 300 yards away.

That depends entirely on your talent, the amount of time you invest in training, and your achievements in competitions (which are used to select the members of Olympic teams).

I hate to be a derogatory person but chances are that unless you have an uncanny ability to hit the bullseye you wont be that an OLYMPIAN.
