Well, this works for my neice and she's a preemie too.
Try waking him up around 8 in the morning and keeping him active. Get a toy that requires him to kick his feet (like those play pianos or dangling toys) get something that requires him to move to play with it. A walking chair, a bouncy seat, or other toys that require movment are good. Then have him take a short nap, around two to three hours during the early affternoon. Don't let him oversleep during the day. The silence may be nice but he won't sleep at night if he slep all day. Wake him up gently. Pick him up and wait till he's pretty awake before setting him down with something to do.
Then make a routine. Give him an nice clam bath so he can get some of his late night energy out by splashing. Get a story or some music and sit in his room and talk clamly and softly. Dim the lights, so he knows that this is time to sleep. A bed time some time between 8 and 10 is a good ideal. Make sure to do the same thing every night so he gets used to having the lights out, and the sleep time at the same time everyday. It's ok if he wakes up every now and then and crys a little. He if he crys for more then five minutes you might want to check in. Make sure the diper is ok. Try giving him water at night, not milk. Milk can cause bacteria to grow. When he does wake up try doing the same routine you did after his bath. He'll get the ideal, over time, that these actions mean it's time to sleep, not time to play.
I hope this helps and remember, there is always room for change, every child is different, and each child reacts to things differently, so do what you feel is best for your child. You know your child better then anyone else.

ok...so we're treating him like a 7-8 month old...
well, it sounds like you may be spoiling just a tad...but that's your choice as his mother...
when my husband got sick and tired of me spoiling my now 3 yr old, (she was about 6 months then), he took over bedtime. and boy what a difference...
first, he put a fan in her room...for the constant noise only, so it doesn't have to be facing baby if you don't want it to be...
then, he put her in her crib, and told her (in his best daddy voice) "bed time, go to sleep"
he sat with her, but didn't hold her or anything...and as the weeks went by, he was sitting by the door, falling asleep before she was by the way, but she was staying in bed and going to sleep!
and i don't think i can really help you with the sleeping through the night...she was doing that since she was 2 months old...
and the bottle thing...just make sure it's water, otherwise his mouth will be dirty, and when he starts getting teeth there's a risk of baby bottle tooth rot...

Don't worry. My daughter barely slept before she was 8 months. At 8 months, she finally started solids. She will (at 12 months) still only sleep in her swing. At 8 months, we started a strict bedtime ritual of dim lights, bath time, massage, oatmeal with a little bit of cammomile and fruit, then storytime and nursing, finally sleep. She started sleeping 10 hours a night almost immediately. Good luck!

you might find this wierd, but i did it with 2 of my cildren and it worked, your child has his days and nights mixed up, so turn him in a full circle, flip him all the way over, and hell start to sleep at night.
