Andrew Davies's BBC version simply cannot and will not be beaten. Colin Firth IS Mr Darcy!

It didn't have enough time to be fully true to the book. No one is going to want to sit in a theater for six hours - which is how long it took the miniseries to get the whole story in.

I don't know if someone who hasn't read the book would understand the significance of Wickam's role in everything from the few seconds he was in the new movie and I still don't get the reason for the weird dream sequences - but all-in-all it kept true to the spirit of the thing, which is important. If it inspired some kids to actually read Jane Austen, then it's worked its magic.

I looooved the new Pride and Prejudice...I read a little short version of P&P, saw the movie a couple of years after that, looooooooved the movie....then read the full book...I'd say it's pretty close to the book. And for the things that it isn't close, I liked the way they changed it. Great job...I liked it more than the book.

I thought it was wonderful. I have not read the book in ages, but I really loved the Keira Knightly movie. She and Colin added sensuality which I did not feel as much from the BBC version--although I enjoyed it, as well. Check out Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife..by Linda Berdoll.

i'm still reading the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.. unfortunately, I'm still in chapter 4 because i don't have the book, i just read it in city library..

anyway, i find the book great..interesting..it is somehow related in our contemporary society..

i can remember the line of Mary, one of the daughters of Mrs. Bennet, a girl with deep relection...

i think it goes like this:

pride and vain are two different things.. pride is what you think of yourself and vain is what other thinks of you..

Not true enough. Pride and Prejudice are not shown more prominently and aggressively yet, my opinion though.

It wasn't true to the book, but they never are. You have to realize that they are two different stories, and enjoy to love them both.
