Do you plan on watching or setting off your own fireworks? Maybe going to a picnic or just enjoying the day at home?

My family and I are probably going to have a nice barbecue. Then at night we might head over across the river to St. Louis to watch some fireworks since all fireworks but sparklers are illegal on the Illinois side. I've only lived in this neighborhood for a few months so i'm not sure if they do anything special like have a little block party or something for the 4th, but if they do, that'd be nice.

In my old neighborhood in Oregon we would have a nice big neighborhood block party with music, food, barbecue, drinks. The whole neighborhood would come and it was nice because we all knew eachother and sometimes old neighbors that moved would come back for the block party. Then at night we'd set off big fireworks. A lot of us would have the illegal ones from Washington since the mortars and other fireworks that shoot into the air are illegal in Oregon. We'd have our relatives buy them from the Indian Reservation near their house and then drive down to Oregon and stay with us for a few days around the 4th. It was very fun and we've done that ever since I was really little.

I am not one for carousing around town on holidays. I stay off the streets - and enjoy the time at home. Usually, I will have my ribs and chicken grilled at my sister's home (she has 3 professional huge barrel grills), make my own potato salad, beans, etc. and ice cream - back home about 11:00 and my daughter and I will watch video movies the rest of the day - just enjoying each others' company. Since personal "fireworks' are against the law in this city - I will watch the 'professionals' set them off in our downtown area. It is a beautiful site.

I have to work that night, and everywhere is so crowed anyway. We are going to work as needed, and head up to the roof of our building and watch the fireworks. Then that night the family is packing up the van and heading to Ojio for three days of amusement parking, Cader Point, Kings Island, and Geagua Lake. It's going to be a good year.

At the Croc Jam that my company is sponsoring.
Free food, bag of momentoes, and I might stick around long enough to watch Confederate Railroad for free.

Oh yeah, checking the voicemail and email for work and most likely without compensation.

We are going to Gettysberg to watch the Civil War re-enactment. Nothing better in these times to remember what has been sacrificed so that we can live in such a great country!! (Despite political leadership ;_) )
