Yes I have a pair of cohabiting gay rats living in my broom closet.
The don't each much but they smell a bit and are at it all the time like a rat up a drainpipe.

Yes, rattus rattus will live anywhere and everywhere - sometimes they'll be invited in, many people keep pet rats and other times people will either be blissfully unaware of their guests and others still will be trying every means possible to get rid of them.
