Since you ask this under "physics", you probably want to know about Chaos Theory, which is the branch of science that deals with the realtionship between initial conditions as predictive of future conditions. James Gleick wrote an excellent book about this called simply "Chaos".
Sometimes a very, very small change in initial conditions creates an enormous change in what happens next. Imagine you are very close to the top of a hill and you put a bowling ball down. It rolls down the hill to a dip, rolls back & forth for a bit, then comes to a rest in the middle of the dip. Repeat this but move the ball a centimeter closer to the top of the hill. Same thing happens. Move it another centimeter. Repeat. The data seem to suggest that the ball will always go to the dip. But as soon as you move the starting point beyond the very tip of the hill, the ball will go down the other side and roll off in a completely different direction. This is the essence of chaos. Things appear chaotic often, but have underlying order, or perhaps appear orderly, but are in fact chaotic.
You should google "smales cat"

Chaos is what occurs when you have a husband who's whining for his dinner, two teenagers fighting over the phone, another searching for his wallet, three dogs barking every time the phone rings, a salesman knocking on your front door wanting to sell you a satellite dish, and a guinea pig squealing every time she hears the fridge open...then dinner is burning, it's a bill collector on the phone, the cat is on the table licking the butter, and there's always someone complaining they don't want spaghetti.
Now do you understand? LOL

Chaos was ancient god of "Blind Panic". He reigned many years
ago and became extremely popular when an asteroid a mile in diameter hit the earth at a speed of 60,000 km/hour.
It was then that Chaos gained popularity when the people
living in the major cities (Paris, London, Los Angeles etc.) panicked.
Expressions such as " What the heck was that?", "Wow!" and "
Did you see that!" became very popular.
This also coincided with the beginning of many of the world's religions.
