Castrate pedifiles or just keep them locked up?

The basic reason they don't survive long in prison is because once the general prison population learns there's a pedifile in their block, they find ways to eliminate them.

The regular prisoners (robbers, burglars, etc.) hate people who sexually abuse others (especially children).

Castrating them doesn't "cure" them. It's not a crime of lust or passion, it's about power. The physical sexual act is not what turns them on, it is having power over a human being, seeing the fear and shame.

Molesters don't survive in prison because the other prisoners kill them. Seems even murderers have their use in society.
