both my children started going swimming at 3 months old and both are very good swimmers now. Only take the baby in the pool for about 10mins each time for the fist few weeks and then gradually increase the length of time. this is because, with the baby being small their body temp goes down. make sure you have a towel at the side of the pool to wrap the baby in once you get out of the pool as they need to be warmed up again quickly.

Good Luck !

My son is 4 months and his pediatrician said swimming in a pool is fine. Just keep the baby in a onesie and hat to protect from the sun. My pediatrician also said sunblock was okay on a baby under 6 months just try a little on his foot to see if he has a reaction wait a day and if no reaction just put a very little on his exposed areas. My son has been swimming since his 4 month physical and he loves it.

As soon as the cord has dried and dropped off and as soon as you are healed. The earlier you start your baby off swimming the better, your baby will love it! Check out local swimming baths for mother/baby classes, as it would be a great way to meet other mums with babies of a similar age too.

Babies have a strong connection with water since the're born and you could actually take her since day one. But the thing one is concerned about obviously is catching infections, specially ear infections so i would suggest you avoid going to public summing pools until she is about 4 but you can always have a lot of fun time in your Bath, she will absolutely enjoy it.
My son loved it and when we went to a public swimming pool he took to water like a fish to the sea!!!

I waited till my son was 6 months old because of all the chlorine they put in swimming pools but I guess once the baby has been immunised it should be ok altho young babies have very sensitive skin and is chlorine something you want on your babies skin? It can't be a good idea or everyone wouldn't say to wash babies clothes in non biological washing powder because of the chemicals.

My cousin was chucked i a poll when she was two months old (and yes i mean chucked in) I wasn't very impressed with this when my gran told me a good few years back so i asked my swim teacher and she said because a baby has been in the womb that is full of water they are used to it. So when ever your ready. She would love it she may find it very relaxing and so will you. Please don't throw her in though my aunt was a bit of a loop. But my cousin is an excellent swimmer. enjoy your day in the pool.xxxxxxx

I heard that babys can swin by instinct. As they grow older they develop a fear of water and lose the instinct to swim. Based on that I would say to start as early as possible.

Swimming could save their life some day!
