here in new york its still a deraogatory term for a homosexual, with things deemed homosexual as being "fruity" and the actual person being a "fruit" or being "fruity". very stupid thing to call a person, "fruit".

In Britain 'fruity' is closer in meaning to 'camp' rather than 'homosexual'. It is also sometimes associated with 'posh'.

But yes, 'a fruit' can be used to refer to a gay man, and is mildly derogatory.

Yes!! Fruit means gay and gay just doesn't mean homo...it also means that you are a punk/weak person. The word gay/fruit/homo has a greater meaning then just being a homosexual.

Gosh I haven't heard that one in a very long time. My daughter and her friends, they are 11, use crooked I thought that was cute especially since my dearest freind is a gay male. I told him that and he laughed until he cried and then eventually gasped out .... "well it's true because I surely am not straight!" LOL
