Unless you are an infant, you can roll over if it gets too hot and will do so (even if you are asleep)...you are in no danger of suffocating.

with blankets covering all of the body u will suffocate as the oxygen level under the blanket will deplete faster than you think and with excess of CO2 which u have been exhaling will make u go into unconscious state and in that state if for long a person might die.
Blankets are thick in nature so generally lot of air doesn't pass Thur it ( eg: that y in winters when we take blankets we keep warm even if the temp inside the room is chilly).
If u wanna sleep with face covered can sleep with bed cover ( bed sheet)over the face but that too should be of very thin in Texture.

Positional exfictiation is what you are referring to. A state where the positioning on the body (or it's surrounding area) do not allow it to breath. I guess you could suffocate under a blanket but the danger of doing so would be relative to the type or thickness of the blanket/comforter. In most cases you would be safe sleeping under the blanket.

No problem! Unless your sheets and blankets are made of heavy rubber or a similar material that seals up and is air tight! That's the only way you'd suffocate! And even then you would naturally fight your way out before you succomed to a inanimate object! Think about it! Now get under those covers and have an adventure!!

I sleep completely under the blankets all the time in the winter and I'm still here.
Just a note, if your head is covered, but your feet aren't, it's not going to save you from suffocating.
But you won't suffocate in your sleep.

Yes. You suffocate, as you do not get sufficient oxygen by covering entirely including the face by the blanket.

Well, when you sleep your brain shuts down.
When you can't breathe your body will probably activate the fight or flight response and flood your blood stream with adrenaline, waking up your brain so it can deal with the "danger." You'll wake up and throw off your blankets and breathe.
I think there's little chance of you suffocating if you sleep completely under the blanket. Unless, of course, someone's sitting on you. But I can't really help you there. ;D

Depends on the type of blanket. Some blankets have large holes for air to diffuse in and out.

Probably not to the point of death, but you would probably suffer a mild form of carbon monoxide poisoning and oxygen deprivation known as "turtle headache".
