I think it sounds like an equitable solution. I particularly like the part about fining the employer(s). I mean if employers didn't take on illegal workers then the problem would not exist. I do think the government should take a very, very hard line with employers who do not do sufficient background checks to ensure they are not hiring an illegal. I do not think they should be badly penalised if they in good faith hire someone after that person passes all the background checks. However I do believe employers and businesses should be held much more accountable than they are now.

Nope stupid idea because you are still rewarding criminals and they have shown that they would just break the law again and come back illegally. My solution to this crap is quite simple and feasible. Since being here illegal is a crime and the use of fake and stolen ID is a crime, we start enforcing the laws that are already on the books. Those that are here illegally pose a threat to national security. As such we have the Department of Homeland Security and the military deal with them. We build the wall along the border. Post troops with orders to shoot to kill anyone coming across the border illegally who does not halt when ordered to do so (this would also help to curtail the drug problem). All illegals should be rounded up and deported. Any and all possessions they have, including money, should be forfeited to the government. Since they are here illegally that means that the possessions they do have were gotten through illegal means. Employers should also be forced to follow the already existing laws concerning the hiring of illegals. Additionally, anyone who knowingly hires an illegal should also face time in jail.

Well, whatever takes place, the vast majority of the public seems to tend to think that it's time to act...even if Bush doesn't...this is, once again, the People Vs. Big Business, the businesses that have the growth and expansion concepts that they're trying to
force the rest of the country into following, willingly, or otherwise.
I'm against a lot of 'growth' rhetoric, I think if you don't think that america's already pretty well grown, you need to get out more.
We've got a population of 300 million people, an economy that's pretty much the envy of the world(there's a topic), and a diverse population that speaks well over 100 languages. If that's not enough growth for you, I don't know...it's already more than a lot of people can comfortably cope with, 'down your throat' immigration policy really isn't such a hot idea, and I hope that more people show up at their city council offices to have issue with it. Bush and company can take their 'growth' and go TO mexico, or something...I'm for employer-level enforcement, meaning that if employers knowingly break US labor laws by hiring illegals, then they should be HEAVILY fined so as to bring the process to an end. I don't think there should be any loopholes on that either, by type of company, big business, small business,
cut off the welfare program and let americans fend for themselves. We've been doing it for 100's of years, we don't need a lot of government 'anything'...except a promise to stop trying to interfere with and intrude in everyone's lives. Defend our borders, take sanctions against employers that hire illegals, ship people home that don't legally have a right to be in our country, and call it a done deal. If mexico needs 'help', that's fine, call it 'foreign aid' and bleed the taxpayers that way. But, just don't be stupid and sit there while Mexico makes their best play at taking over...how much of all this social engineering and ID theft comes from mexico? How much? Does this administration have ANY intention of enforcing the law, or do these guys somehow get their jollies at watching america get all screwed up? Who DID we put in office, really? Makes ya wonder...

give the illegal immediate status and use the bus to bring in his family,Confiscate all the employers stuff just like he was drug dealing, not fines and send him to prison for ten to twenty, on release ship him and his family to some rat and mosquito infested hell hole in Asia where he can deal with the version of free enterprise practiced there, this would make it a better solution, especially if the turn in did not need much evidence just a good suspicion
