Check out "Wheels and Deals". They are a large lot full of third party used cars for sale. They basically charge people something like $100 to display their car in their lot. It is a good place to go check out used cars because they display the cars of a ton of people, so you can go see a good number of used cars sold by private parties without having to go to all their homes or pay the premium that buying a used car from a dealership usually costs you. They have two lots, one on El Camino Real in Santa Clara and another one on El Camino in San Bruno. Check out their web site, it is at:

Go to a reputable Dealer such as Car Fax. You can also go to the Major Dealers as they sell Used Car's Also, Be sure to Look at the Warranty. Good Luck
