Symptoms of bee phobia:
breathlessness, dizziness, excessive sweating, dry mouth, feeling sick, shaking, heart palpitations, inability to speak or think clearly, a fear of dying, becoming mad or losing control, a sensation of detachment from reality or a full blown anxiety attack.

You are not the only one to suffer from bee phobia. Most sufferers are surprised to learn that they are far from alone in this surprisingly common, although often unspoken, phobia.

If you really feel that you need to get something done about this, go to se an NLP practitioner.

Traditional psychology is not good enough, desenstisation means exposing you to your fear for a protracted period and just going through the fear. This does not always work and will probably take all summer if it does.

NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming can solve this problem for you in less than 5 minutes without throwing you in a vat of bees. Why shoud you have to go through a long process to switch off the phobic response, normally they take microseconds to switch on in the first place. Finally it has been found how to put thhe switch back quickly and easily.

See your GP and let's hope he takes you seriously. There are places he or she can refer you.

Here is some information on the web about desensitisation which will show you what you are letting yourself in for! If you have no joy with your GP, I suggest you ask for a second opinion or change your doctor.
Systematic desensitisation is a type of behavioural therapy used in the field of psychology to help effectively overcome phobias and other anxiety disorders. More specifically, it is a type of Pavlovian therapy developed by a South African psychiatrist, Joseph Wolpe. To begin the process of systematic desensitisation, one must first be taught relaxation skills in order to control fear and anxiety responses to specific phobias. Once the individual has been taught these skills, he or she must use them to react towards and overcome situations in an established hierarchy of fears. The goal of this process is that an individual will learn to cope and overcome the fear in each step of the hierarchy, which will lead to overcoming the last step of the fear in the hierarchy. Systematic desensitisation is sometimes called graduated exposure therapy.

As this is a phobia that is affecting your life, why not go and see your GP and ask them to help. That way, they can refer you to someone that they know who deals with this problem - or there may even be someone in the practice who specialises in phobias.

Good luck with your search for a cure - and look forward to your first picnic without screaming!

I would contact a local Psychologist and see if they can desensitize you to being around bees and wasps. It is natural to have a little fear around them but it depends on how significantly your behaviors increase in their presence.

May be worth a visit to a hypnotherapist but check out first to ensure they are professionally qualified.

The NHS may offer help with phobias if they are causing undue mental stress.

Find a local mental health service in your area, ( the county usually has a free service, or at least a free referral service) they can refer you to a psychologist who can help you deal with the phobia
