u get better fuel economy u help save the environment u have Moore money for yourself for the better things in life then spending it all on gas guzzling suvs. the government gives u credit for having a fuel efficient car. many people will respect u as a environmentalist. and its just the right thing to do in my opinion. No dependancy on forgin oil is one big thing as well.

I guess you are american and mean a hybrid petrol car.
In London UK, you avoid paying congestion charge; (the US empassy owes £1,000s in unpaid fines on their "gas guzzlers")
because particulates from fossil fuel exaust kill thousands, and sitting in traffic the hybrid emmissions are zero - the petrol engine isn't running.
Also the level of CO2 per Km is much lower, again meaning less UK tax.
The Prius hybrid system is garunteed 8 years. and parts are no more expensive than other cars, and much cheaper than the big polluting vehicles eg compare to the cost of servicing or tyres on a 4x4.
The driving experience is more relaxed, more like a pure electric, though not quite as good, ie smooth, quiet, and smell free. Pure electric you can refuel at home or office.
electric is much more suited to traction, eg maximum torque at zero rpm so simpler gearbox.
The technology was there 10 years ago, but GM recalled all their high performance electric cars, despite customer demand, and CRUSHED them.
Today the tZero will out-accelerate a ferrari and has a range >200miles.

As an American citizen I feel it is disgusting for us to rely on oil(mostly from other countries) as our primary source of transportation. The gas - electric car is a start...a beginning... in moving us in the right direction.. Not only does oil pollute the air, aide in destroying our lungs, assist in global warming and demoralize us at the pump, it is a monopoly that must be curtailed. The technology is there. In the near future(like tomorrow) we need to either go all electric, or at least completely away from oil. We can live better without it!

Another advantage of driving a Hybrid car is that you get a tax credit. This year it was $2,000 ! Also, in some states (like California), you can get a special tag to put on your car which allows you to drive in the carpool lane w/o having other passengers. Saves time if you live in a busy metropolitan area....

Basically, less emissions of dangerous greenhouse gases, and having these limited resources pulled out of the ground at a slightly lesser rate. You don't have to pay for gas which is only getting more expensive. Because you are making less dangerous emissions, the environment is healthier.
DID YOU KNOW
That the beef industry is not an asset to our health. Cattle create significant greenhouse gases with their methane due to their unique digestive process. Cattle are large mammals that are domestic and we have way too many, creating gas and wasting energy... If people just limited their beef intake, really. Think about hamburgers, beef is like a staple for Americans but totally unnecessary - there is fake meat if your into that, pork, chicken, etc, hell just eat less of it! It would be beneficial to our health too, people need to lose the weight. See just something small that would really help out the environment and ourselves!

If you are talking about a hybrid car ( using both gas and electric) it will use less gas. But the purchase price is usually more than that of a regular all gasoline vehicle.

NONE.
-You pay more to purchase one
-Parts are extremely expensive
-You still have to use gasoline
-What do you do in 5 years when the numerous expensive batteries on every electric vehicle need to be replaced (dump the millions of toxic used batteries in a third world country) and pay thousands of dollars per car to replace them. (wow, and they will make you beleive that you're saving the environment). BULL.
The best solution would be a hydrogen fueled car (NOT a hydrogen CELL fueled car) but a hydrogen combustion car.
This way you will not need to dispose of any toxic and harm full batteries(cells). (but I guess that the companies would rather make more money by selling you new batteries).
Food for thought.....
