Excedrin or equal generic, dark quiet room, ice or snow pack on forehead or back of neck, If you have already reached the nausea/vomiting stage prescription phenergan works well or milk and crackers. I don't know why but it works for me, the milk and crackers. A nice neck and temples massage sometimes helps, it depends on the type of migraine. Good Luck they are awful.

Liquid melotonin is an herbal sleep agent. if you take it 20 before you go to bed it will help you fall asleep even with the migraine so if you cant go to sleep with a migraine that will help you go to sleep. But sleep is the best solution. melotonin is easy to fine and inexpense. You can get it at the fredmyer health food section

Things that have worked for me:

- sleep

- cold wash cloth on forehead while laying down in the dark

- no lights, no computer screen, no tv, only makes it worse

- chug some cold milk, sounds odd but the brain freeze sometimes kills it or least knocks it down some

- drink some pop, coffee etc as caffeene is one of the main ingredients in asprin. It opens up the blood vessels to remove the headache.

Eliminate caffeine slowly. My grandfather had migraines since the time of Christ. It sucked. He did this and went to a guy who did acupuncture. It worked. It worked so well he's still alive and bothering the hell out me still.

place Icy hot on a wash cloth and breath through the wash cloth. The menthol will have a slight numbing effect. while doing this lay in a dark, cool room.

I have found this to work when most other things have failed.

Good Luck.

Close your eyes, picture the pain! is it throbbing? bright? etc. Now take whatever the picture you made of the pain and push it out as far away from you as possible. If it was loud, turn down the volume. If its sharp and painfull (duh!) put a cushion around it. If its bright, make the picture black and white. Push it out until its so far away that it just disappears into dust. If it doesn't fully work the first time, just keep repeating it with more power, push it away with more force, bigger cushion, etc. Basically beat the pain into submission. Try this, I learnt this from a psychologist.

Roll up baking sodas inside a paper towel. Have someone get the vinegar. Firmly hold a towel over your brow to protect your eyes, then have the person just soak the paper towel. Not overly wet.

Just lie down, make yourself comfortable, hope everyone leaves you alone, relax, hope for the best. Otherwise, the best I've heard by one of the owners of the company I work for is Excedrin, lots of it, and in his case lots of diet coke, but if you know what Excedrin is (Asprin Acetaminophen Caffeine) extra caffeine.
