As I'm looking to visit Phuket for the next month, I have checked some of the hotels in www.excelloz.com in order to stay for several days. But, can anybody tell me what is the different between Amari Coral Beach Resort and Thavorn Beach Village and Spa? In the pictures, they look similar with asian styles which is great and both are 4 star hotels. I don't know what is the different, so I can make a better decision. Thank you.

The Amari Coral Beach Resort is located at the far Southern end of Patong Beach Road and make a right turn at the sign after you cross the small 25 meter bridge.
The Thavorn Beach is one of 4 Thavorn hotels on the island with 2 in Phuket Town, 1 on Karon Beach and the Thavorn Village Beach Resort is located a 10 minute drive to Kalim Bay farther North of Patong.
Personaly I prefer the Amari that is closer to more activities and attractions then out in Kalim Bay and not so isolated, however both facilities do have a hotel shuttle service into Patong.

If you are choosing between just these two I would suggest Amari Coral Beach because it has a more convenient location, i.e. walking distance of the shops and bars of Patong, if that is important. Although, unless things have changed since I was there, I would not say that externally the architecture is especially Asian. Incidentally neither hotel has much of a beach worth talking about, although sea swimming is pretty much a no-no at this time anyway.
The island has so much choice it is difficult knowing where to stay, with each place or each hotel having its own features and benefits.
Someone here mentioned Cape Panwa. A good choice at this time of year because it has some shelter from the south-west monsoon, although it is in a quiet spot.
My personal favourite area is the Laguna Phuket (particularly Dusit Laguna or Laguna Beach for the more Asian architecture) but for some it is too much of a tourist enclave.
Anyway, sorry I digressed. I am a huge fan of Amari hotels and I am sure you will not be disappointed by the quality.

Amari Coral Beach is awesome. I think Thavorn is down on Karon Beach. Amari is heaps better. It i s at the very end of Patong Beach and all rooms have an awesome view over the water. Because it is right at the end of the beach it is just enough out of the way to be peaceful but close enough so you can walk to all the shopping, restaurants and nightlife. You will love Amari! Thavorn you will need to use tuk tuks to get around.

sorry can't think where exactly amari is located but the thavorn if i am right is on karon beach really nice beach i was there about 5 weeks ago, very quiet at this time of the year it is directly across the road from the beach, have a look at hotel club on the net i got a place on karon beach just down the road from the thavorn called the karon princess it was very satisfactory hotel fairly new and cost about 32 australian a night alteratively it is so easy to get there and find accomadation if you wanted to move about, places to visit- go to dino park mini golf for a bit of fun, diffinately go to see phuket fantasea it is a really good show ! have fun !
