how about this:
Instead of tickets, the cops asks where you are coming from and then takes you back there and makes you drive it again at the speed limit, just like mommy used to do
"No running in the house! Go back and WALK this time!"
I think people would rather have a ticket than be very, very late if caught!
It might actually work and cost less (money wise, at least).
What do you think?

Actually no one seemed to get it but this was really not a serious question and I thought it would be cool in a movie.
The reall reason that police stop speeders is to issuue tickets that are cheaper to pay than to fight. It has become the governments way to rape our wallets wihout having to pass a new tax bill.
in california, the sate government sent out to all of the cities and towns an ultimatum, if you will.
It stated that that town was expected to produce, for the state coffers X amout of $$ from citing drivers and if they did not meet this quota, there would not receive road repair, school assistence, and things like that.
One town sued in federal court. and they refused to write tickets!
I do not recall the outcome.
in Michigan, police officers have developed a unique way of getting raises. If they do not get the raises, the police officer's union tells them to stop writing tickets and when the city/county starts feeling the pinch, they get their raises and the tickets flow

Police officers have better things to do than to follow a speeder back to their starting point and then follow them back to their destination at a slower speed. Would you rather them waste time following traffic violators or responding to emergency calls? Plus, speeding tickets benefit the community, for they bring money into the county for funding. Following people would have no value but to not only piss off the person pulled over and the police officer. Plus, I bet this would result in a lot of high speed chases possibly causing accidents leading to injury or death. And then in the end the driver would be put in jail instead of just paying a mere $56 speeding ticket.

Well your question makes the mistake assumption that speeding tickets are designed to reduce accidents. There is actually very little evidence that speeding increases accidents, in fact the most dangerous speed to be going on the highway is about 5 mph slower than the flow of traffic. Speeding tickets are primarily a way of funding the police department and the courts.

No.
First off, we are already short-handed with police officers, so to get them to take the time to actually carry that out, would be not a wise decision. There are many other occurrences that would take a lot higher priority than something like that. For instance a burglary, kidnapping, stabbing, domestic violence, drugs, etc.
And no it certainly wouldn't be cost effective for the city or police department, and it would rather be a waste of their time.
Of course if people kept speeding too fast, maybe yanking their drivers license would be an ideal way to make them realize it isn't worth their time to speed. It would work for me. That would totally suck to not have my license.

thought it sounds nice, that wastes taxpayers' money. forcing cops to follow people back to their starting point wastes their time and energy. in the time it would take them to follow you all the way back there, they could give out more speeding tickets.
speeding tickets fund a lot of government programs. erraticating them takes that money away. it makes even less sense when you force the cops to do a bunch of driving, wasting gas and time. so instead of a cash cow, which tickets currently are, you'd wind up with a cash siphon.
not to mention the extra pollution.

And when you get caught in Los Angeles going 75 miles per hour from Sacramento the cops going to take you 375 miles back to do it all over again? Sure its a tough penalty but thats a lot of cops time...and over time.

I'd rather have our police people spending their time keeping the populace safe rather than driving back with cars to places. And besides. So many people could say things like "I just came from that diner down the street!" when they really had been driving for some distance.

a complete waste of tax payers $
Besides there is real criminals to catch.
Getting a ticket is faster and having the high insurance rates will eventually teach the driver a lesson.

thats a waste of gas especially if u r coming from a long ways away and plus if u get caught it is your own fault for breaking the law and cops arent as nice as mommie's are. So they arent gonna do that thats just a big waste of time.

That is a great answer, however. However, after these individuals have been let go after being made to do it again, they will speed even faster because they are extremely late. It is a shame that tax money has to go for those who break the law.
