i definitley know how that feels! Im 18 too! My mom and dad trip when i try 2 stay the night somewhere cuz they think im gonna do something bad. (90% of the time its true) I guess you should be happy that he cares but at the same time i know where your comming from when you say you'll go in the right path. Seriously...there parents. They will not stop worrying! Your there baby! :( I'm moving out into my college dorm soon and my parents are still gonna call n ask where im at and who im with and if im staying with anyone or if they're staying with me. I'll prolly still lie but oh well. The best thing you can do is sit your dad down and explain to him that your smarter then other girls and that he can trust you to make the right decisions.

if all else fails...flee the country and change your name.

He is protective of his daughter. Look at it from his point. When you can do that, and than understand, than you will realize why he is doing it. And friends do rub off, all the time. Friends possess a great power over one another. Though you may not seem.

If you have not given him any reason to worry yet, bring that up, and work it to your advantage. Don't fight with him when he says no, but discuss, and sometimes try to come to an agreement. Like a later curfew, more freedom, or something else.

Older people have seen and done a lot more than you have.
He doesn't feel that way for no reason. She has done something that tells him that his little girl needs to steer clear. Parents know these things. Has you father ever told you anything wrong to do or say? If the answer to this is NO. Then trust him he knows what he's talking about. Keep being yourself and sooner than later you will be able to decide for yourself. And trust me even then your still gonna need daddy.
HE LOVES YOU!

PICK YOUR FRIENDS LIKE YOU PICK YOUR FRUIT.
Would you buy a bad apple.

He is right. We can get in trouble just being around the wrong people. So make new friends.

I had some friends in H.S. they were so into drugs, that I started trying them. Then it got to the point where they kept guns in their house...I saw what I thought was a play machine gun, they said it was real.

I left because being around them was dangerous to living. Sure enough a few years go by, and he overdoses and dies. He left his girlfriend alone with a fried mind.

Believe your parents...they have your best interests at heart. I am writing this to tell you the truth, not for any points.

He is probably right. If you want to do your own thing you should move out and support yourself like an adult. I thought I was so smart at 18 too, ha! was I an idiot. I made lots of mistakes and now I think like your dad (or your Mom).
You will get it eventually, the smart ones do. If he is a decent man you should trust his judgment, hard as that is to do.

WRONG!

Just because your are 18, doens't make you a good judge of character. Your dad obviously sees something that you don't.

If you trust him, then he may trust you. You may even learn a thing or two.

BTW, dad's don't like to be convinced to let their daughters do things they don't feel right about. IF ANYTHING happens, he will blame himself for letting you go.

Give him time... by time I mean, spend time with him. Let him learn what you stand for by having earnest conversations about life and what not.

You forget that adults/parents have been kids before. We have walked the same steps you are walking now. He knows best, just have to trust in that.

Plus its a proven fact that we act like those we hang around with. No matter the up bringing, the morals, etc. If you hang around bad people, drug people, etc, you will in time act like them or do things like them. Same with if you hang out with rich upper class snobs, you will become one.

Choose your friends wisely as they affect you more than you can ever realize.
