I am 18 and my cousin, she is 28, and is getting married. I don't know what to get her. I'm going by plane to Seattle and my Mom isn't going so I will bring her gift as well. The groom is the same age and is a drummer. I mean, they aren't really expecting anything great from me, if anything at all. Suggestions?

When I got married, the most valuable thing anyone gave me was gift cards to the places I was registered.
Some people bought gifts off of my registry, and those were nice, but I really don't use a lot of the stuff. I just registered for it because it was a neat thing and it was fun to shoot the registry gun.
Some people bought gifts that weren't on my registry. Those usually weren't useful at all. I donated some of those to the goodwill after just a couple of years.

And since you are travelling by plane, you won't have to worry about anything breaking during travel! ;)
If you get a card from someplace they AREN'T registered, just make sure they have one of those stores near where they live!
Some people gave checks or cash. That's always good, but it went straight into the bank, to be used to pay off the wedding bills!
The people who gave gift cards from stores we registered at were the most appreciated. We didn't use them right away. We waited to see what we needed and would use, and we got to spend the money on things that we can see every day, rather than on bills.

I would give them a nice picture frame to use for their favorite wedding photo but I would insert a piece of paper into the frame before I wrapped it that said something like...Wishing you many cherished memories, please insert the best one from today here.

If you go to a craft store like Michaels or Craft Warehouse (or that type of store) you will be able to find a great frame that looks pricey but is actually under $15.00. I would get an 8 X 10 or a frame that has two 5x7 sections next to eachother.

This way you can be proud to present them with a nice gift. A gift card is always nice but on a limited budget it's easy to feel like your gift is not large enough when you can only afford under $20 which is about what most 18 year olds have to budget on gifts.

The best wedding gift which is easy to carry and guaranteed to get used would be a GIFT CARD. You can get the couple a gift card to either Target, Walmart, or Olive Garden. That way they can buy whatever they want/need and plus, they are more likely to go shop at those stores whenever they run out of something anyway. You can put how much you want on the gift card like $50-$100. If it's for Olive Garden, you're going to have to put around $100. This will give them a chance to eat out a couple of times.
If you search on eBay under Target,Walmart or Olive Garden gift cards, they sell them cheaper than if you would have bought it at the store. It's usually $1 less cheaper (which includes shipping) sometimes up to $5 in savings. They usually sell fast, so hurry!

Also, the reason why I personally don't like giving cash as a gift, is because it is very tempting for people to blow it off rather than spending the money wisely, like for instance, paying off their wedding expenses, other bills, or saving it, etc. I know that people will say that once you give your money away as a gift, you shouldn't care how they spend it. Unless, you're rich and you don't care where your hard earned money is going, get a gift card.

About gifts that are "registered": I don't like buying gifts off the registry because they can go unused for years, they can be resold or recycled as next year's Christmas present. Many couples don't realize that they don't need that many "dishes" in their "crib" and they just register because it's traditional. Again, this is why gift cards are the best gift :)

I think you should get your mom to help you pick out the gift. She may be able to find out where they are registered, and you could pick a gift from one of those. However if you are unable to find out about their registery, something personal and commerative would be nice. Here in our area we have store called Things Remembered. They have very reasonable prices and you can get things like silver boxes with candles, silver picture frames, etc. You can have these items engraved with their names and date of the wedding. These make very nice gifts. Here they do the engraving in-house, and can have them done in less than a day. I don't know what area you are in, but check at your local mall.....if you are like all the 18 year olds in MY area, you will be there anyway.

Nie Q... :)
Buying Gifts to people is an Art.
They are the best people to research...
some invetigation like:
1) what they talked about before.
2) or what they keep naging about...(Like fixing the roof...or he / she has to get this machine to do something...)
Lasting things is great...not so sexy...but in need...
New washing machine/ dryer...
Jewelery IMO is a waste of time

I am a Guitar player...I do play some percussion...things like cow bells from LP..Taballis...etc
they got those Mics for drums ($$$)...from Shure Company
lasts for Long time

I think the best thing you can give them is cash or a gift card. Cause sometimes you end up with two things of the same thing! That happened at my wedding. It was so much better when people gave us a gift card or cash.
