False pregnancies are not dangerous just make sure the dog is having enough nutrition, plus watch it's temperment. When I was young I had a terrior who constantly had this problem and would carry a toy around and even try to feed it. She would produce milk etc., after awhile she became unable for any one to be around her but myself. She would attack anyone because of the hormone levels. If you can afford it I would speak to your vet to make sure there isn't an underlying condition that is causing this.

I found this for you...

"FALSE PREGNANCY IN THE DOG occurs when the ***** produces both physical and psychological changes that are a nuisance to the ***** and the owner. The psychological changes in the owner arise most often when informed that their prize ***** is NOT pregnant after all! The ***** will often produce milk, engage in nesting activity and look like she's pregnant. It's amusingly sad to see the affected dog try to persuade a tennis shoe to nurse! These visible changes take place beginning about 4 weeks after the heat cycle begins (estrus) and can continue for a number of weeks. False pregnancies are always unpredictable and can show up whether or not a mating has occurred. Often so much milk is produced the ***** becomes uncomfortable. Once a dog has had a false pregnancy she's likely to be afflicted again. "

(Sorry if the site is less than professional. I'm not a surfer myself.)

She should be fine, but read up just in case. I had a retired female (from another breeder) that kept having them, and she was okay... just uncomfortable once in a while. We had her spayed and took care of the problem. Best of luck to you! And I see Yahoo is taking out the "B" word... Oh well. You'll figure it out... *heh*

Many Dogs do produce milk in fase pregnancy, and if they are pregnant, milk will begin about 2 or 21/2 weeks before delivery of pups.

All the info on pseudo pergnancy is listed above, so I won't add to that.

Our domestic dog did this and we gave her some small filled animals from the carnival (little dollar interest prizes) and a tennis ball she kept all of them including her for approximately 2 weeks then she would pass on to at least something else this would ensue each so usually, she would in straight forward words whine little bit distinct the time she would purely lay with them close to her abdomen and sleep

Yes they are VERY stressfull for the dog. Can you imagine wanting a baby that much you pretend that you are pregnant. that is really sad, best to get your pet neutered if you care for it. I dont think they produce milk but it is dangerous.
Get her neutered would be best for the dog.

Most animals and humans don't produce milk (lactate) until the child is born or almost born.
