Not very hard. You play for six months just the start. The first year is the beginner. Play it for three years is a new golfer. People usually start at 15-16. Good one start at 4-5. Weekend golfers play once a week, and still ok.

Golf can be very difficult because it is very different in not only the way the game is played but the attitudes and personality of the game is unique from all other sports. Baseball, basketball, football, soccer and other related sports are contact sports and require men to be very aggressive and powerfull. In order to hit a baseball to a home run, you need power. To throw or kick a football, you need power and all the other sports I listed and then some. But golf is all about form. If you try to grand slam the golf ball the ball will not go far, in fact it probably won't even go where you want it to. In order to hit a golf ball properly and successfuly you'll need precision, good form, consentration and patience. Golf is way more than hitting the ball and then running like hell. It's a game that requires finece, talent, patience, great posture and form, great consentration and precision. Anybody can kick, hit, throw or run with a ball of some shape but not anybody can golf. Its a difficult game because form is so important you have to try and master that before you even start to play golf. You'll understand more if you go to driving range thats in your area. Then you'll trully learn the true art of golf. Its not a game for kids.

Golf is as hard as you wanna make it. The more you practice the better you'll get like anything else. You'll make a whole lot of bad shots but the ones you remember are the good ones. The way I look at it is, we're probably never gonna play the tour so just have fun with it.

Take lessons, unless your golf season is weird and your in it now, in which case lessons might just screw you up more. In any case, practice a lot. Mostly short game stuff because its getting the ball into the little hole that counts. As far as hardness, think about having to do a whole project, that took everybody else a couple months to do, the night before its due and needing to get an A. If thats not good, just think Diamond, I hear thats pretty hard. Oh yeah, and if you mess up, you cant blame a teamate who threw the ball to you because its all on you.

I suck at it too.

Here are my recommendations if you keep trying and continue to suck.

1.) Take lessons. This really helped me.

2.) For confidence, use your 7 iron the whole game except for putting. The 7 iron is probably the easiest club to hit. It also makes it go high up in the air and it is easier to keep straight.

3.) Remember that equipment will only improve your game by about 5 to 10%. Tiger Woods would still be Tiger Woods even if he was using a set of clubs he found in a garage sale.
Don't spend 300 dollars on a driver. The money is better spent on lessons.

More challenging than most sports. Look at the professionals. On any given tournament, there are easily 25+ legitimate contenders to win, even if the top ten players are present. In other sports (like tennis), the top players have incredible dominance over their lower ranked opponents.

That means you have a lot of opportunity in golf. Practice, and analyze what you are doing right and wrong on any given day, and you can win. It is one of the few lifelong sports. Enjoy!

Golf is one of the harder sports to master because its a game of action. You put the ball in play where in most other sports you react to what is happening around you. The best way to get better is tho play at the course nothing else can come close to it.
P.S. Don't go to the driving range and just hit balls with your driver work on your short game first.

Golf:Hitting a still round ball into a hole takes precision and not much hand-eye coordination. Baseball: Hitting a ball moving so fast that it can take up to .4 of a second to reach you and have movement of up to a couple feet. Plus adding in your doing this everyday for 162 games. You also have to field balls that can be hit over 100mph back at you and have to run pretty fast and have good range to play most positions. Also you are considered good if you fail 7 out of 10 times. Looks to me Baseball is the harder sport.
