My mother had Diarrhea for about a year and then she discovered acidophilis and it cured her. It is the good bacteria in yogurt. I also take it for years because I have Candida, where the bad yeast took over. I cannot take milk products so I buy acidophilis at the health food store in the refrigerated section. It is often combined with Bulgaricus and Bifidum. What happened to me is the good bacteria was destroyed in my intestinal system by antibiotics and exposure to chemicals and I find I need to take it quite often to keep healthy. I like the brand "Natren, healthy trinity" the higher the count of live good bacteria, the better you will feel. You should keep it refrigerated. I take about 4 tabs at a time, especially in the morning with water and then take a shower and let it get a head start in my system. You could take to more often during the day, but its better not to have a lot of sugar with it cuz sugar kills the acidophilis (good bacteria) again.
