What I read was in a magazine article while waiting at the dentists, I was called, and couldn't finish the article...It said it had something to do with your kidneys absorbing the water, instead of cleaning out your system, and getting rid of the excess... Any ideas???

Mostly someone probably said that so you wouldn't have to keep getting up in the night to go to the bathroom. It's perfectly o.k. to drink water in the evening. In fact, most people do not drink enough water.

Drinking water after 7pm is ok. Might make you have to get up and go pee in the middle of the night, but that's it.
Eating after 7pm is not good for you. As you sleep your body will tend to say, "Hey we're not doing anything, let's just save this for later." And you'll get fat or fatter as applicable. Another reason would be that Drinking pop or eating after 7pm disturbs your sleep patterns. You can actually reset your internal clock by doing this, your body is busy digesting food or burning caffiene and so it can't properly get you ready for REM sleep. Hence nightmares or tossing and turning. A big glass of water before bedtime however can help you ward off a hangover the next day, since a hangover is just your body dehydrated. All in all water is not bad for you in any way that I can think of. Except maybe it'll rust ya.

Sounds like a far fetched story.!!...You should and can drink water all day long. Maybe they said that so you don't have to get up in the middle of the night to pee

I think water is good for healthy every time (except ofter surgery or ...) , so may be they did it because at night, may be you drink water and not to make water, so your kidneys may be under pressure and risk.

Your body's organs slow down in the night. Its called circadian rhythm.
That is why you urinate so much first thing in the morning.Older people have to go during the night because their organs are not as flexible as when they were young.
